Lower Ab Exercises For Men
The most common type of exercises I hear guys in the gym researching about is lower ab exercises for men. Sure they complain about abs in general but lower abs are always a hot topic in terms of exercises. When I trained abs in the past I generally just focused on the core abdominal muscles. I actually neglected the lower abs and in hindsight, that’s was a pretty bad idea. Lower abs actually can change the whole look of your midsection.
A guy with great middle and upper abs won’t look great without strong lower abs. To be honest, I’d rank great lower abs higher in importance than the rest of your abdominals because if you have clear, defined lower abs, you must be pretty damn shredded. Your bodyfat level can be around 12% body fat and still have your upper abs but unless you’re around 8-9% body fat you won’t see ripped lower abs.
If you really want to transform your physique, defining your lower ab muscles will go a long way.
Lower Ab Exercises For Men-The Science
Before I show you the best lower ab exercises for men in my opinion, here are a few scientific facts you should know about your lower abdominals.
Men and women have been scientifically proven to store fat in different parts of their anatomy. Whereas women predominantly hold fat in their buttocks and thighs, us men hold most of our fat around our waist and stomach. This is why you may see yourself gaining weight around your abs but your legs remain stick thin.
‘Beer bellies’, ‘love handles’ ‘muffin top’ or whatever you want to call it. Men hold onto visceral fat which is a much more problematic to lose fat. This is the main reason why lower ab exercises for men are so important as this is the main area where men are holding onto the fat.
The Best Lower Ab Exercises For Men
The best lower ab exercises for men are the exercises that are laser-targeted to the lower ab section. I’ve narrowed it down to just 2 exercises but I will probably make a guide about it in the near future.
Lower Ab Exercises For Men:Roman Chair Leg Raises
This is great if you really want an intense lower ab workout.
Roman Chair leg raises really worked out my lower abs to the extent I could barely bend down to pick things up the next day. But the main benefit I noticed is that I’ve found it easier to squat higher weights now. My lower abs have always been a weakness and doing Roman Chair leg raises has really improved my core subsequently helping my perform compound exercises like deadlifts and squats much better.
Lower Ab Exercises For Men:Lying Leg Raises
Lying leg raises are another one of the great lower ab exercises for men. You’ll need equipment to perform the Roman Chair Leg Raise but you can perform the lying leg raise anyway. The great thing about lying leg raises is that you can really perform them with high rep volume. I sometimes try and do 50 reps at a time.
This helps improve your abdominal muscle endurance which will invariably aid you in other exercises that work the core.
Note: As I mentioned before, I will be creating a short report on the best lower ab exercises for men in the near future.
